Sony Ericsson W705 Review – The combination of walkman, WIFI and 3G

We could said that Sony Ericsson W705 is the first cell phone generation of walkman Sony Ericsson that have been supported by WIFI facility. And last, the vendor from Japan and Sweden sponsored MTV Europe Music Award 2008.

Most consumens need high speed to access to their data, the same way with the trend and social culture which aimed to techno freak. People hope that all activities, business or pleasure could be accommodated only by one cute gadget. Sony seem could answer it.

Design
Different with the previous series which have slide mode and round corner, Sony Ericsson W705 come with flat mode and looks like Sony Ericsson G705. Despite it looks convensional, but it’s still so stylish with a nice colour composition.

Move mechanism which is applied in W705 is unsluggish and feel smooth. One completing point that have done by Sony Ericsson in this cell phone is in the construction side. Sony Ericsson W705 construction looks strong enough than W910 and W580.

In closed position, the ahead panel only show softkey and D-pad button which is also functioned as music player button. In the up side, there’s a light censor and addition camera for videocall.

As a walkman Sony Ericsson cell phone, W705 brings music autoshake feature. To operate it, we need to push speciall icon walkman button that located in the up side body. In keypad structure, W705 is similar with G705. Flat keypad mode with smooth rubber material which perform comfortable access. Unfortunately the texture is a little bit stood out and give spaces among the keys.

The screen and user interface
It’s not secret anymore if the premium cell phone class always offering complete features including the screen. W705 could perform a beautiful atmosphere in the screen by it 18 bits and 262.144 colours. But unfortunately, the brightness and the contrass could not perform optimal under the sunlight. It is one minus point.

The same with other walkman cell phone series, W705 also use the newest interface software. So, the appearance is not different with the previous series, W595 and W980. the standart menus and cool themes for walkman generation, and also flash lite effect are performed well.

The features
Sony always show the best in their innovation, including in their walkman cell phone technology. It becomes their weapon to attract the music cell phone lovers since Sony Ericsson W800 until W705. Sony always improve their products time after time. In W705 we could find Stereo Widening, SensMe features, and also shaking control which make possible for us to change the the music tracks only by shaking the phone. But it didn’t come with Mega Bass effect just like in W595. About the player and audio performace, we don’t have to be worry. The 3.5 mm female jack converter could perform a great sound of music, even we could use it as home theater player. But the output speaker still lose from Chinese cell phones speaker.

Connectivity
For PDA phones, WIFI connection is usual, but if this facility is applicated in W705, how could it be? Seems great, doesn’t it ? Yeah, is claimed as the first Sony Ericsson cell phone which has supported by 802.11 b/g WIFI technology. The perform in serving internet hotspot is not bad. It would be pleasure for those who like to enjoy the free hotspot for free internet. For alternative, it’s also come with several choices such as Bluetooth and special Sony Ericsson data cable. So, the file changes would be easier.

Network and Internet
Fortunately this cell phone has been supported by HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) applicated in UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) which make us possible to get a high speed internet access. But the stability and speed is still lose than W595 and middle class cell phones in general.

Light flash and some standart features such shooting mode and night mode could be weapons for W705. But unfortunately W705 didn’t supported by autofocus feature, so if we want to get a good quality pictures, we have to really in stabil position. The camera could also be used to record video in MP4 format, but the result isn’t good.

Google maps
W705 is also cmpleted with Google Maps facility which is integrated in Location Service feature . By this application we could monitoring any location via digital map. More over, it could also be used as traveling guide if it is integrated with GPS receiver and internet connection.

Battery
All features offering by W705 have to be supported by powered supply battery. For accommodating this, W705 come with 1000 mAh lithium polimer battery.
